That wasn't supposed to happen

That is one of Greg's phrases, usually when he spills something. But it works for our trip to the local science center today. First, let me start by saying how much I dislike winter. It puts me in a general mood that leads me to be quickly irritated, especially if we stay home too much. Because I just find myself constantly doing laundry and also telling the boys to "pick that up" while they make forts and change clothes 10 times, leading to more messes and more laundry. So instead we try to get out and do things. So when they asked last night if we could go to the science place, I said yes. I heard there was a new adventure exhibit so I thought this would be just the thing for us. We even pulled out our ranger outfits so we looked like true explorers. I tried to get a picture before we went in. It went something like this:

me: okay, a quick picture....(then we wait on my pitiful camera to get ready)
greg: gives me a crazy fake smile
me: no g, just smile, like a normal smile, like you're laughing...doug just look at me for 2 seconds....seriously, both of you, look at me and smile.....

Why do I even bother? But in Doug's defense, he was distracted by the lady telling us we could go on in. It went great for a while, until Doug got a little scared and the crying started. I told Doug to solve the puzzle we needed to focus, think and not cry, but we were beyond hope at that point. We decided to come back some other time with Daddy.

Big Boy

Even though Greg is my "baby" - he has become such a big boy, which is something he likes to remind me of frequently. He has been great going to preschool (we didn't have any tears even after the long Christmas break!) and while he loves to tag along with his big brother, he has been asserting his own likes and preferences even more lately (anyone want to play football or super sluggers?). And he is tall. Or at least he seems tall to us, and his legs looked so uncomfortable in the britax car seat, that we decided to make the jump to the booster. Here he is for one last picture in the old car seat:

And here he is in his new one. He was very happy to get one "like Doug".
