Or maybe I should say Happy President's Day. Except I was going to tell you about our big V-day week. So here goes. I do not consider myself a good baker, which is fine because I don't really like to bake anyway. But a few months ago for Greg's preschool snack I made blueberry muffins (from a box, of course. The fact that I had to stir something and use my oven counts as baking in my house). Anyway, these muffins were a big hit. So when the paper came home alerting me that Greg was snack person for the V-day party, he quickly decided he wanted blueberry muffins again. No problem. Then the email came out for Doug's party and I was feeling extra energetic and offered to bring frosted heart cut-outs. And these bad boys I totally made from scratch, including the icing. Also a big hit.

But anyway, toss those baking projects into our already busy week, plus add writing our names and assembling our valentines, and it made for a crazy week. Doug made his V-day party box at home with his Dad. They made it look like a mini post office mail box (Doug did all the decorating himself, and did not want it to be blue). The really hilarious thing was, we all thought this was unbelievably creative (especially me, who, when the note came home from school explaining that Doug needed to make a box for school, pictured a shoe box wrapped in white tissue paper with red hearts on it). So when I walked into Doug's classroom and saw a little girl with a HUGE mock post office box - blue with US stickers on it and everything - I actually laughed out loud. And I asked to take her picture with it so I could show Todd, who also got a good laugh.

And the other day I was the volunteer Mom at G's preschool class. He was also the Happy Helper, which made him so excited. It's big stuff to be line leader and be able to tell the class what the weather is like today. And I love helping in the class and getting to see him interact with his friends. For some reason, a lot of the kids wanted to "tell me something" so I seemed to attract a crowd at times, which was starting to annoy G in a "hey, that's my Mom" sort of way. Awww. Made my day.

This past weekend was the boys first over-nighter at a Grandparent's house. They stayed with my parents so Todd and I could stay up all night at our church for the MYF lock-in. And the boys spent the night last night too, so Todd and I could nap and/or lay on the couch, which we did from the minute we got home from church until we went to bed last night at 9PM. We are a little old to be pulling all-nighters (and we made it through church, I might add - and Todd even ran the computer) but we did have an absolute blast. I had forgotten how much fun freeze tag can be.
Anyway, the boys are on their way home now and while I am enjoying the quiet house at the moment, I am very much looking forward to seeing them.
