We had a fun weekend full of sports. Friday was the Expo for the Marathon and since I was running the half, G, Lainey and I headed down to pick up my packet. I showed great restraint by not buying a ton of stuff, and ended up just getting a pair of socks (that turned out to be the best purchase ever!). The folks at the Cleveland Marathon booth gave Greg some pop rocks candy, which freaked him out a bit when they popped in his mouth. Ha!
Then after school and work we headed to the Olive Garden for dinner so we could officially carbo-load.
Then on Saturday both boys had their last football game for the season. (I don't have any pictures because those are on the other camera, and I barely know how to take pictures with that camera, let alone download them.) Greg finished strong although had trouble pulling flags (he was sooo close) because his hands were cold, and he had a good run but got caught by a bigger 1st grader before he was able to score. He had a great season though, with lots of TDs and flag pulls, and he is looking forward to next year when he will be a bigger first grader.
We thought Doug was done last week, but we didn't know about the final game where they play with "real football rules'. His is an instructional tackle league, where they only use half of the field and have modified rules. But for this game, they used the whole field and the rules are more similar to football (10 yards for a 1st down). Doug had a great game! He was flying all over the field and made some great stops. He also had a good run - he made a few guys miss and had a great cut to make the last guy miss and fall down - unfortunately Doug fell too. But overall it was a great game and the team went out with a win!
Then Sunday we got up early to take me downtown for the half marathon. It was chilly, but I tend to run better when it's cold, and ran a better than expected time.
So today I wanted to do something fun for Lainey. I took her back to the pumpkin patch to play in the corn sandbox. She loved it, even though you can't tell that from this picture. But shoveling corn is serious business.
